Tallions
18 February 2003
Author: Jim Williams
Source: Original
Tallions are a race of abnormally large near-Humans that colonized a terrestrial planet near the Core Worlds in the Inner Rim. During the Clone Wars, this planet loyally fought alongside the Republic and was the target of four separate campaigns by the warring parties due to its strategic location. In the waning days of the Empire, more and more Tallions are questioning the policies of the New Order. After Endor, a Rebel faction of the government declared itself a member of the New Republic. A terrible civil war is bound to erupt on this planet as both sides support their proxies to see which galactic power will gain control of the planet.

Personality: Tallions are very direct in their dealings with each other and off-worlders. They do not mince words and speak plainly without any intention of hiding their feelings or sparing others’ theirs. As a result, their frankness can either offend or be appreciated depending on the one listening to a Tallion’s words. Tallions do not lie except in great need, and even then are not very good at it.

Physical Description: Tallions average 2 meters in height and typically have fair skin, soft-colored eyes, and light hair.

Homeworld: Tallia.

Language: Tallions speak Basic.

Example Names: Groman, Hephon

Adventurers: Tallions make excellent Bodyguards, Soldiers, and Officers.

PER 2D+1/4D+1
STR 2D+2/4D+2

A Tallion raised among his or her people receives a -1D penalty to all Con attempts and pays double the character point cost to increase Con. Tallions receive a +2D bonus to their PER to resist Con or, if they do not suspect a Con, the GM rolls the bonus and adds it to the Difficulty of the opponent's Con check. Tallions may also, at normal specialization costs for Con, take the skill specialization Con sp:Detect Lie. This skill is used to resist Con attempts against the Tallion or add to the Con Difficulty.

+2 STR, –2 DEX. Tallions are strong and heavily muscled, but this hampers their agility.

Rouge8Thanks for the quick response. I think the -4 penalty is better.
Jim WilliamsHmmm, now why didn't I give them a penalty to Bluff? The reason escapes me. Curse my negative ranks in editing! -4 would be a good balance to their bluff attempts, and/or rule that Bluff is [I]always[ [ . . . ]
Rouge8I think the +8 Bonus on Sense Motive overpowers them slightly, though maybe a penalty on bluff like you have in the D6 version would be instore. I'm not familiar with converting, but I know Con = Bluf [ . . . ]
