The Starhawk

The Starhawk is the newest ship in the Rin Astral pirate armada. They are a fairly large sized pirate fleet that works Primarily for the empire. They are the remnants of the Dread Wing, one of the largest pirate armadas during the time of the Old Republic. When the Empire replaced the Old Republic the leader of the Dread Wing split the famed armada amongst his most trusted lieutenants to avoid the Imperial pirate hunters. The Rin Astral’s operated along the outer rim for many years until the Empire finally caught up with them. Instead of destruction the Empire offered a deal. In exchange for a general amnesty for all their members they would search the outer rim hunting rebels. Their extensive knowledge of that area of space gave them a destinct advantage over Imperial personel who had spent most of their lives in the core. As time went on the Rin Astral’s expanded their fleet over fifty armed frieghters, two full wings of starfighters, and one Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser. After the destruction of the second Death Star the Rin Astrals became the first Imperial privateers. Their favored tactic was to use Q-ships, cargo ships modified to sport military grade weapons, to attack defenseless Alliace cargo ships.
When Yasane Isard took over the Tyferra, the Rin Astrals continued their service under her durring the bacta war. Isard would provide the Rin Astrals with the routes of her unescorted bacta convoys so that the pirates could then steal the bacta. The loss of the shipment would allow Isard to raise the price of bacta and the Rin Astrals would then sell the stole bacta on the black market for a huge profit. Since half of the Rin Astral’s profits when straight back to Isard she lost almost nothing in the scam and the Rin Astrals became insanely wealthy. With the profits from the stolen bacta the Rin Astrals began work on a new Q-ship designed specifically to hunt down Rouge Squadron.
They bought a brand new Corellian Action VI transport and took it back to Starforge for a complete retro-fit. Over the next two months the yard dogs at Starforge transformed the lumbering bulk frieghter into a capeable warship. The engines were replace with much more efficient models that provied more power for weapons and the speed of a ship half it’s size. Powerful manuevering thusters were added to make the ship more agile. The hull was significantly reinforced to almost double the ship’s durability. Military grade shields were added to give the ship more protection than a corellian gunship. Also, part of the cargo bay was removed to add a small docking bay that can store either one light freighter size ship or six starfighters.
The Starhawk was armed with seven Turbolaser Cannon in a pattern that can bring four of them to bear for a broadside volley. It also mounted two fire-linked medium ion cannons in a turret to add to any fire arc. The most unusual modification was the addition of the gravity well projector. This would allow the Starhawk to prevent Rouge Squadron from escaping into hyperspace if the ship ever encountered them. With the exception of the turret mounted turbolaser, the Ion Cannons and the tractor beam all the other weapons are hidden under the ship’s hull*.
   
The Ships living quarters were expanded to accomidate the larger crew as well as twenty troops. There is also a brig capeable of holding twenty prisoners. The Rin Astrals added a tactical center complete with a holonet reciver and a tactical holo-display. The ship is capeable of operating idependently or as command ship for a squadron. In addition the sensor suite recived a complete overhaul as well as the installation of a stealth unit.**

TonyxThis ship is not bad. I like how it is something that was just modified from another ship. I think those are always cool ideas. I think this ship would put up a good fight against most other ships [ . . . ]
Midnight_MarauderThis is an OK ship overall...I don't like the stock hull rating and shield rating on [I]The Starhawk[/I], but I do like the heavy turbolaser cannons and the gravity well projector. Out of 5, I'd give [ . . . ]
