The Lodians are an ancient race of near human, hailing from the planet Lod. This planet belongs to the Yut Sector, located in the Unknown Regions. Surrounded by a gas nebula with strong electromagnetic storms, Lod sol system is almost unreachable even to trained pilots, without the proper astrogation charts.
The Lodians were discovered by the Galactic Republic when the Duro Jedi Master, Ilthar Zyr was rescued in his ship by a Lodian scout ship, 4493 years before the battle of Yavin. Master Zyr’s ship was damage after fighting valiantly against a group of space pirates. Unknown to him that pirates were part of a group that were terrorizing one of the Lodian colonies. Observing this, the Lodians decided to help the stranger and took him and his ship.
Being an excellent diplomat master Zyr gained some sympathy with the Lodians and was taken to the lodian colony Nudül. There he found a fully organized society with an advanced technological level, strong traditions and respect for life. The Lodians always maintained their civilization in ecological balance, melding their cities within nature. It was only he was proven to them that he was their friend that they granted him the permission to visit their homeworld Lod.
An important innovation of the Lodian culture was the use of crystals in their daily life. Commonly used in ornamentation, some exhibits special properties and are used in different tasks. Some of these are: energy power sources, data storage, ability and vitality enhancements. Also a force sensitive individual could imprint a crystal that enhances his force abilities. Fascinating was the fact that anyone could use an imbued crystal, although the bonuses granted are minor when a non-Lodian uses it.
And last, but not least was the Lodian unique way of space travel. Although Lodian spacecrafts were capable of hyperspace, the dimension in which they travel through hyperspace is different to the one utilized by the rest of the galaxy. This technology was developed with the cooperation of another race, the Gemüts. The Gemüts arrived to the Lodian colony Nudül five centuries before the arrival of master Zyr, and have proven as valuable allies to each other forging over the years an alliance. Utilizing a particular type of crystal as energy source, the engines controlled by a Verschdrive or "V-drive", can generate enough energy to transport heir spacecraft to another hyperspace dimension, known as Verschspace or "V-space". Activating the Verschdrive augments the energy state around the ship and gives it a wraith-like appearance, nurturing the legends of ghost ships. The direct advantage of traveling through V-space is that is two times faster than the conventional hyperspace travel.
Excited by these relevant discoveries he reported it to the Jedi Order and they gave him permission to train native Lodians if he found it pertinent. With the growing menace of the Sith the Assembly preferred that this discovery must remain a secret. A culture like them without proper training could succumb to the dark teachings easily and become a powerful ally to the Sith.
Several years of working with them Master Zyr earned the trust of the Lodians, and began training Lodian children in the way of the Jedi. Eventually, with the help of Master Zyr the Lodians enhanced their space technology. Utilizing the database of the navigation computer aboard his ship and his vast astrogation knowledge, the Lodians developed more extensive and precise stellar maps. The Jedi Master also helped tune the military reinforcing their tactics in space warfare.
Unfortunately a couple of years after establishing a small academy Master Zyr passed away, but the young knights and padawans were not alone, being prepared for this event, Master Zyr imprinted his personality to his holocron, to help them in their jedi path. After his demise the Lodians mourned and buried him as a hero. Now after more than 4500 years have passed and one could see monuments on his name.
Over the years Lodian jedis began spreading to the Yut sector protecting the innocents and recruiting new candidates. Although the jedi ranks are mostly composed by Lodians it is not uncommon to see a few aliens.
Only a few Lodians have ventured out of the Unknown Regions, mostly because they spend most of the time scouting and protecting the Yut Sector. And those who did are commonly mistaken for humans.

Lodians value the lessons of the past, and learn quickly by their mistakes. Their strong beliefs and determination has make the Lodians have a hard time adapting to other species, thus they tend to be loners outside their world and colonies.
